I was not convicted of a DUI, but DMV record still requires an sr22?

I live in California, and when I was 19 I was arrested for driving under the influence. When I showed up to court on my court date, I found out that I was removed from the bailiffs list and was never called up to speak to the judge. I just had to pay for a “Speeding – Basic” ticket. So I was not convicted of a DUI and have a clean record still, I suspect because they would have lost the case.

But the DMV still suspended my license for a year, and now I need an sr-22 form. An insurance agent pulled up my driving record, and it shows exactly this “Speeding – Basic, Convicted: 5/23/2009″ and then it says “Suspension 6/23/2009″ but the Conviction date is blank. IT shows no DUI! Why do I need sr22?! Can I fight it?

SR22 is for proof of insurance, it has nothing to do with DUI . and its the DMV who wants you to file for proof of insurance, since the license was suspended, you now get probably 3 years to pay for an SR22 as a guess (how many years did the state require an sr22. ?) this is the only way to get your license, I don’t know who are you going to fight? the case is now over, sentence has been passed, the judge order stands. best of luck, like the rest of us (and there are 10 of thousands of sr22 we all had to pay our dues) unfortunately, now its your turn
