I own a sony Handycam HDD and it won’t burn to a dvd?

I bought the blue HDD Sony Handycam a month ago from Best Buy, the one with the hard drive. I got an extra battery, carrying case etc. I took it to Florida and recorded over three hours of video, separately, over 6 days of vacation. When I got back to the hotel each night I downloaded the video on my laptop. When I got back home from vacation I tried to create DVD from all of those files I saved. It won’t burn a DVD. So I downloaded a file converter, after reading about it online, to convert the MPEG files to WMV. When I tried to burn the DVD form that every video clip was doubled and it cut out half of my video recording! How can I take these MPEG or the WMV files and make a DVD?

Do you have windows movie maker? If so, you can use it to burn wmv video to DVD.
