Aspira CE Now Provides The Courses Needed for Those Seeking the The Grandparenting Path to LPCC Licensure With The CA BBS

For licensed Marriage and Family Therapists outside of California, who typically seek MFT continuing education, California is offering a new option. The California Board of Behavioral Sciences (CA BBS) has created a new licensing category, LPCC (licensed professional clinical counselor). The LPCC license is open to those already licensed in CA as well as those outside of California. There is a “grandparenting” path that the CA BBS established for those wishing to apply for LPCC licensure. This path will differ for those licensed outside of California from those licensed in the state of California. Additional courses will be mandatory for any non-BBS licensed professional.

Aspira Continuing Education now provides courses that meet the requirement for the LPCC “grandparenting’ path at http://www.aspirace.com. The licensed professional also needs to be sure that their masters or doctorate program covered the core content areas required by the CA BBS. All of the extra courses can be taken from an online provider approved by the CA BBS. The courses and their corresponding number of required hours are as follows:

* 15 contact hours of training in alcoholism and other chemical substance abuse dependency;

* 10 contact hours of training in human sexuality;

* 15 contact hours of training in spousal or partner abuse assessment, detection, and intervention;

* 7 contact hours of training in child abuse assessment and reporting;

* 18 contact hours of training in California law and professional ethics;

* 10 contact hours of training in aging and long-term care; and,

* 15 contact hours of instruction in crisis or trauma counseling.

Aspira CE has work diligently to add additional courses to their listing over the last several months. Aspira CE has a course for each requirement above, plus many more. “Now, those seeking licensure with the CA BBS as an LPCC can meet all of their extra coursework in one place”, said Nicole Hiltibran, MA, LMFT, CEO of Aspira Continuing Education. “This really simplifies the process during this window of opportunity of the grandparenting path provided by the CA BBS.”

In addition to these specific courses for the LPCC license, Aspira Continuing Education offers several other courses that are beneficial to those needing to renew their current license, whether it is in social work, marriage and family therapy or counseling. Aspira is the proverbial one-stop-shop for those seeking continuing education in the mental health and social work fields, in California and across the Unites States.
