A “cell phone upgrade” is where an existing customer of a network (eg T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange, O2, 3G, Virgin etc), who has been with that network for about 1 yr since getting their last cell phone, gets a brand new cell phone from the network at a free, or cheap discount price, in return for agreeing to stay with that network for one more year, with a 12 month contract agreement. The user keeps his or her present cell phone number, and stays with the same network. That is called a “cell phone upgrade” – often it is a free cell phone upgrade!

To get the best offer for a free or cheap cell phone upgrade, you should understand this. The cell phone networks pay a cell phone dealer more for a brand new customer (new cell phone contract) than they do for a cell phone upgrade customer. This odd scenario has been the same for many years. The only network that seems to pay cell phone sellers practically as much for an upgrade customer as for a brand new free cell phone customer is Three (often known as three or 3G). The other cell phone networks merely don’t seem to value their existing clients as much!

The craziness of this example is that it encourages you to be disloyal to your current network.

The amount that a cell phone supplier can give to you will depend on how much cash he’s making. If he’s making extra money from a ‘new’ cell phone contract customer than for an upgrade customer, then he will be able to give the ‘new’ cell phone contract customer a bigger discount or a free cell phone or possibly more!

Now, did you know that as an alternative to upgrading your phone on the same network (where you most likely won’t get such an excellent deal or a free cell phone etc), you’ll be able to switch to a NEW and totally different network AND keep your existing cell phone number? That is true.

Now, understanding that you may keep your cell phone number, and that you can normally get a greater deal as a ‘new’ customer on another network, what are you going to do?

You can simply become a ‘new’ customer on a different network … this new network then deals with you as a brand new customer, offers you all of the free cell phone bonuses and gifts, and so on, AND you keep your cell phone number!

So by merely looking around at all the offers available to you on all the other networks

Before you’re taking the jump and switch to a different network for your free cell phone upgrade, take into consideration this …

Imagine you call your current network to inform them that you’re thinking of leaving them to switch to another mobile network. Often, that person you talk to will be on a commission to maintain your business: ie they will earn a bit of money if they will convince you to stay with that cell phone network.This means that you can use this to your advantage.

Tell them that you’ve had a great offer from another network (and do not lie – they will more than likely know exactly what you can get with another network). Merely ask them if they will equal or better the deal offered by this other network.

If they will equal it, then it’s most likely not worth the trouble of switching cell phone networks and the paperwork. It isn’t an excessive amount of trouble to do the switch, but obviously it’s simpler to stay with your current cell phone network.

Free cell phone upgrades can be got in this way quite easily by understanding how the system works and the way the money works in cellphones and free cell phone upgrades.

So next time, simply ask your current cell phone network if they’ll better the free cell phone offer from another network.
