UM student charged in fatal crash ‘destroyed’ by tragedy, family says (Miami Herald)

The kind of girl who seemed to have everything.

Five-foot-seven with long dark hair, Ivanna Villanueva graduated from Palmer
Trinity High, an exclusive private school costing more than $23,000 a year.
She played varsity lacrosse and soccer and was a thespian. Home is a lush $1.6
million Cocoplum mansion purchased by her father Luis – a VIP in the Latin
music and Spanish-language television scene — nearly 15 years ago after
moving from Caracas, Venezuela.

A University of Miami freshman, the 19-year-old hung out on the swank South
Beach club circuit this summer, going to Wall, LIV and Arkadia. Photos taken
of her there and published online show her smiling, eyes closed, chin tilted,
or posing in a black-and-grey-striped top with fingernails painted bright
blue.

On one of those nights out that ended with a fatal crash last month,
Villanueva was at Arkadia, where receipts show she purchased two shots of
Patron silver tequila for just over $42 at 2 a.m. Earlier, according to court
documents, she had been at Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill in Midtown. Prosecutors say
she also went to LIV, a ritzy celebrity hangout in the Fontainebleau that
