Traffic Tickets Never Again – How To Keep From Being a Ticket Magnet

Make sure that you are not driving a type of car that is considered to be a “speed demon”. If you’ve got a bright red Ferrari, it looks like you’re going a hundred miles an hour even when you’re not moving. There are several quality fast vehicles that don’t draw nearly as much attention. It’s also a good idea to have the proper electronic equipment (like a radar detector) to protect against the speeding ticket. Here is a MSN article that lists vehicles that get a higher than average ticket rate.

Police officers can be quite crafty when it comes to hiding and setting up unexpected speed traps. You should always be on the lookout and remember their hiding spots in areas you drive frequently. Anytime there is a line of trees, steep curve, or hill that you can’t see over while driving, there is a good chance a cop car is waiting for you. You should also be careful speeding around slow semi trucks, since some police cars will drive just in front of a truck knowing cars cannot see them until they come flying past. Highway on-ramps are always areas to be alert as well.

If you go weaving in and out of lanes on the highway you draw unwanted attention to your car and increase the chances of getting a speeding ticket. This could also be ruled reckless driving which will hurt your driving record and increase the fines you have to pay. Try to stick with the right hand lane, since the left hand lane is traditionally where speeders will stay. You can pass on the left, but immediately go back to the right hand lane.

A paced speeding ticket is another worry, especially when driving at night. If you are going at a good speed and see another vehicle coming up on you very quickly, it may be a police car trying to estimate your speed by racing up and seeing what their own vehicle speed is right behind you. This is done a lot at night when you won’t be able to clearly see that the approaching vehicle is a police cruiser.

Sometimes while you’re driving down the highway, someone that we will call a “Draftie” will pass you. You should have no problem following this “Draftie” at a safe distance, a quarter mile or so, because they will act as a target for any patrol unit’s radar trap and they will get stopped prior to you even arriving at the location of the speed trap. Just don’t forget about your rear-view mirror because the patrol car may have spotted him from a ways back and is planning to follow behind you to try and overtake him. And if you don’t slow down he could get to you first.

You can’t predict exactly what an unmarked cruiser is going to look like, so always pay attention to cars on the side of the road. You may be able to help someone out if they are broken down or avoid an accident if someone is about to pull back onto the road. The best thing of all is noticing an unmarked cruiser trying to act like a broken down vehicle so you will speed by them.

You don’t want the super high insurance rates that come with speeding tickets. Be alert and know where you are at all times. You can get where you’re going with speed without bringing home the ticket.
