Pulled over for reckless driving?

Hi,
I just got a reckless driving ticket in Idaho. I was pulled over because as I was merging onto the road the car in the lane I was merging into swerved a little…there was an officer 100yds or so behind them who saw them swerve, then he pulled me over for reckless driving. I was going maybe 42mph in a 35mph zone (my ticket has no speed on it though). I am 24 and I have a completely clean record. Is this something I should hire a lawyer for and is there a chance I can get it reduced to just a citation, not a misdemeanor? Any advice is appreciated…thanks!

If the other car swerved then they must have felt you were too close. If you are the one merging then the other car has right of way, even if you use your turn signal (which you should, it is the law). Just because you signal that does not mean the other car has to let you in. That is the courteous thing to do, but they do not have to. Which is why we also look before changing lanes.
