Virginia Reckless Driving Charge?
I recently received a Reckless Driving Charge while on a road trip in VA.
The officer “clocked” me at 79/55. I don’t think that’s what I was doing, but
I know I can’t fight a radar gun in court. I was surprised however to find that
what a simple speeding ticket would be in Maryland is Reckless Driving in VA!
I called a lawyer and can not afford to hiring one… however, from their advise I know
to bring a copy of my clean driving record, get my speedometer calibrated, and hope for the best.
However, I was wondering if you can offer me any advise as how to get this charge
greatly reduced (hopefully to something without points)
I don’t know if this information helps, but my guages sometimes don’t work,
RPM never…
and the officer who issued me the court summons wrote both my
address and license plate number incorrectly on the ticket.. is that
some wort of technicality I can use?
I just don’t want a 6 point ticket and a 2500 dollar fine… please help!?!?!?!?!
Yes, $2,500 fine is the maximum legal fine, but there’s no way you’ll be fined even half that much. I’ve reviewed hundreds of DMV and criminal records, usually the most I’ve seen for reckless driving is s $250 fine and never any jail time.
