Tips For Avoiding Speeding Tickets
Make sure that you are not driving a type of car that is considered to be a “speed demon”. If you’ve got a bright red Ferrari, it looks like you’re going a hundred miles an hour even when you’re not moving. There are several quality fast vehicles that don’t draw nearly as much attention. It’s also a good idea to have the proper electronic equipment (like a radar detector) to protect against the speeding ticket. Here is a MSN article that lists vehicles that get a higher than average ticket rate.
Make sure that you are aware and alert at all times while driving. Pay close attention to on ramps on the major highways, as they are prime spots for speed traps. Also, try not to come over a hill speeding because you have no way of seeing over the hill and if there is a patrol unit there with a radar gun, you’re going to be nailed before you even see their car. You always need to be on the alert for any hiding places that a patrol unit may be, behind trees, around curves, or even in front of a large truck driving in the right hand lane. Sometimes that truck is going the speed limit because there’s a patrol unit right in front of him, waiting for you to pass.
When driving on a multiple lane highway, stay in the right lane if at all possible. Speeders typically fly through the left lane, so many police officers will focus more on those lanes. If you need to pass someone, get around them quickly and jump back to the right lane. The worst thing you can do is go in and out of lanes, weaving around cars. This will draw attention to your vehicle if a police car is around and could get you double the fines as this is considered reckless driving.
Keep an eye on your rear-view mirror, especially when it’s dark, for any vehicle that may be approaching very quickly. If you’re driving at 70 or 80 miles an hour on the highway and a car is creeping up on you, it’s entirely possible that it’s a patrol car doing a “Paced Traffic Ticket”, or it’s another speeder who can act as your personal “Draftie”.
Sometimes while you’re driving down the highway, someone that we will call a “Draftie” will pass you. You should have no problem following this “Draftie” at a safe distance, a quarter mile or so, because they will act as a target for any patrol unit’s radar trap and they will get stopped prior to you even arriving at the location of the speed trap. Just don’t forget about your rear-view mirror because the patrol car may have spotted him from a ways back and is planning to follow behind you to try and overtake him. And if you don’t slow down he could get to you first.
Vehicles parked on the side of the road are something to pay attention to, no matter how old or beat up they may be. You never know what an unmarked police cruiser is going to look like today. Plus, you may be able to help someone who is broke down on the side of the road. Accidents can also be avoided if you notice a car about to pull back onto the highway from the side.
Always know exactly where you are at all times. This can be your absolute best method for avoiding that dreaded speeding ticket, and the higher insurance rates that go along with it!

Choose Your Christmas Holiday In Sunny Arizona
If you are like lots of people located in North America the cold, freezing temps that come along with the winter months can truly get you down in the dumps. You do have a multitude of options when it comes to escaping the frigid temps and let me suggest to you that Phoenix AZ is the picture perfect place. With our winter daytime temps averaging in the mid to low 70′s it is pretty hard to beat the desert conditions.
With the Phoenix economy still emerging from its decline of the past couple years you will discover countless deals in rooms, meals plus activities. You will discover a number of resorts offering specials as well as costs which can be thirty and at times as much as 40-50% less than they where 5 years ago. Restaurant values are also extremely competitive, especially in the winter. Search for specials at on line sites such as Groupon, Expedia and Orbitz to name a couple.
I can spend hours chatting about the countless things to do in the Phoenix area as well as the entire State of Arizona. Permit me to offer you just a couple ideas. With more than 325 golf courses within the Phoenix vicinity alone and more than 500 within the State of Arizona countless winter visitors come here for the golf. The Phoenix area, in my opinion is the greatest winter golfing destination in the US. Some of the finer golf courses you may want to play are Trilogy @ Power Ranch, Troon, TPC Scottsdale and The Boulders located in far north Scottsdale. Some other courses I can recommend that aren’t as pricey as the ones just mentioned would be The Legacy, Superstition Springs, Kokopelli, The Arizona Golf Resort and Painted Mountain.
You don’t take a winter vacation to play golf? How about hiking some of the many trails we have in the area. This is one activity that is almost impossible to do here in the summer because of the heat. South Mountain, Camelback Mountain and the Superstition Mountain areas are some wonderful places to check out. There are also a number of firms within the region that lease mountain bikes if walking is not for you. How does just relaxing by the pool with a good book in 75-80 degree weather sound… not to bad. Other activities many visitors come to our state for in the winter are fishing, shopping, tennis, baseball Spring training, off roading and just plain sight seeing.
No matter what you are looking for in a winter escape the Arizona/Phoenix area almost certainly offers it. For those who give the desert a try this winter you won’t be disappointed.
