Aspira Now Has The Coursework Required for Already Licensed Mental Health Professionals Seeking the Newly Established LPCC License in California

All those now seeking MFT continuing education, there is a new option for licensure. The CA BBS (Board of Behavioral Sciences) has implemented a new license, the LPCC (licensed professional clinical counselor). Mental health professionals licensed outside of California are able to apply. For a short period of time, the CA BBS has made available a process to apply for their LPCC license, called the “grandparenting” path. This path will differ for those licensed outside of California from those licensed in the state of California. All non-BBS licensees will be required to complete additional coursework.

All of this additional coursework can now be attained through Aspira Continuing Education at http://www.aspirace.com. These courses are in addition to the required core content areas that should have been covered in the licensed professional’s masters degree or doctorate degree programs. All of the extra courses can be taken from an online provider approved by the CA BBS. The courses and their corresponding number of required hours are as follows:

* 15 contact hours of training in alcoholism and other chemical substance abuse dependency;

* 10 contact hours of training in human sexuality;

* 15 contact hours of training in spousal or partner abuse assessment, detection, and intervention;

* 7 contact hours of training in child abuse assessment and reporting;

* 18 contact hours of training in California law and professional ethics;

* 10 contact hours of training in aging and long-term care; and,

* 15 contact hours of instruction in crisis or trauma counseling.

Aspira has made some new additions to their course listing over the last few months. Aspira CE has a course for each requirement above, plus many more. “Now, those seeking licensure with the CA BBS as an LPCC can meet all of their extra coursework in one place”, said Nicole Hiltibran, MA, LMFT, CEO of Aspira Continuing Education. “This really simplifies the process during this window of opportunity of the grandparenting path provided by the CA BBS.”

Aspira Continuing Education goes beyond just providing courses to meet the new LPCC license in CA. They offer many courses for those seeking renewal of their existing license whether it is in social work, counseling, or marriage and family therapy. Aspira CE is the only online provider needed for all of one’s continuing education needs for mental health professionals and licensed social workers. This is true for those across the United States not just those licensed in California.
