I got speeding ticket at 78 on 70 mph speed limit. I heard that i can take defensive driving/driving class or something like that to wipe off this bad record from my history. How to do that? I live in san jose, ca

You will get a courtesy notice in the mail, which will give you your options. Simply, you will pay the fine (around $200), sign up for traffic school (another $40 or $50), and when that is completed the ticket will be dismissed.

BTW, Sandy is wrong. Traffic school DOES result in a dismissal of the ticket. Veh C 1803.5.

Marco’s girl is also wrong. There is no number on your ticket to call for traffic school. Further, if you go to traffic school before signing up to do so with the court, and paying the fees, it will not count and you will just have to do it again.
