In North Carolina, with a clean driving record, I'll go to jail to pass a stopped school bus? I'm scared!?

I driving on a 4-road routes and buses in the right lane next to me going in the same direction. A police officer was behind me, and I was just speed limit (35 mph). The bus began to decrease, but not in custody, and I passed with caution. The police immediately took me (to pass the bus too) and he gave me a ticket. I have a clean driving record and have never received a ticket. I was respectful and not pretend w / police. I'm scared! I have a lawyer, but eventually will probably go to court. I fear they throw me in jail! The Internet has says, anyway. Both the lawyer and the policeman who arrested me told me he did not, but I am still very nervous. Any advice is appreciated!
