can i fight my tailgating ticket?

I just got a ticket for tailgating. I was traveling at the posted speed of 30 mph, the car in front of me was crawling at about 15-20 mph. My record is clean, I have never even been pulled over before. I think that receiving this ticket is unfair due to that I was indeed going the speed limit and i truly wasn’t that close to the car in front of me. I don’t even know what the charge is for a tailgating ticket, is it careless driving? The points put on my license from this tailgating ticket are going to be astronomical and for my first offense, I think that it is truly unfair.

Always contest a ticket in court. There is a 50% chance the officer will not show up and the offense will be dismissed.
