In how many states is it illegal to text and drive?

Just texting and driving (not making calls or hands-free). And only the 50 States, no Puerto Rico or Guam. I tried to look online but could only find record from about 2008. Please include source of information.
EDIT: If you know any info about Pennsylvania and their laws, that would be nice too.

Alaska, California, Connecticut, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Jersey, Washington and D.C have a text messaging ban for drivers.
